Breakfast in Hotel Associa Takayama Resort

We enjoyed the breakfast - though not very large spread, the quality was very good. Big outdoor onsen with several pools and different temperature, and great views of the Japanese alps and countryside. Hotel is a little out of town centre but it's charm is the view. There's no convenience store or food places near the hotel. There's a hotel shuttle service but timing is an hour interval so really need to plan well or it's a long wait. Hotel seems to attract large tour groups. We counted at least 10 tour buses during our stay. To avoid the crowd, we had our breakfast after 8am. The onsen is big enough so there's no overcrowding even during the peak after dinner hours.

1. Nice hotel staff- receptionist, house keeping and restaurant crew who always welcome to answer your needs 2. #1 onsen, no others can be compared 3. Easy to Takayama station so you can take walk to any tourist areas with hotel shuttle bus 4. Good food and nice service in lobby lounge . 5. You can buy good souvenir in lobby shop. We have an wonderful vacation in Japan during the beautiful autumn season, nice people, great food and happy shopping, Thank you all to make us have an unforgettable travel memory. We can't wait to comeback soon for next trip.

Retro old school luxe. It would have been a very swanky hotel back in the day but we actually liked the old retro feel. The free onsens were fantastic with great views over the mountains. There is also a sauna. We made a lot of use of these. They provide a shuttle bus service to and from the hotel to the train station this was very handy as the hotel is a little out of town and which we preferred. The drip coffee in the room was great and restocked daily. The size of the room was fantastic.

We traveled with a toddler and this is no easy feat but the hotel had a designated play room with books, toys galore, coloring materials, stuffed animals and even a ball pit! The onsen was so relaxing after a long day of walking and the views are spectacular. If you enjoy a good breakfast then you’re in luck because the buffet offers not only a good variety but also quality. The shuttle service was really the star, without it this place would be out of the way. I would stay here again!

Resort is very well-maintained and clean, albeit a little old. There is shuttle bus service between Takayama station and the resort. The guest onsen at level 5 and 7 is wonderful after a long day outside. It comes with indoor and outdoor pools. It was snowing when we were at the outdoor pool, it was an amazing experience. Housekeeping provides turn-down service every evening to prepare the futons for sleeping. We truly enjoyed our stay here.
